Hurry, if we don’t pass TARP the country will go broke; hurry, if we don’t pass socialized medicine the country will go broke, hurry, if we don’t pass the stimulus the country will go broke, hurry, if we don’t raise the debt limit, the country will go broke.

The genius here is getting people to believe that spending stops us from going broke.
